PIB Group acquires Sheridan-Colohan Insurance Brokers in Ireland

PIB Group Ltd (‘PIB’) has snapped up another strong business in Ireland with the addition of Sheridan Colohan Insurance Brokers (‘Sheridan-Colohan’). Based in the county town of Wicklow, the general insurance broker is the eighth business to join PIB’s expanding portfolio of businesses in Ireland. 

The milestone is particularly timely as the family business celebrates 41 years of trading this month. In that time, Sheridan-Colohan has grown to provide its customers in local and surrounding areas with a professional financial service spanning personal, financial and commercial insurances. 

The team will settle in with the support and guidance of colleagues at Campion Insurance who are leading PIB’s expansion into the Irish market. Campion is one of the country’s largest insurance brokers and joined PIB in 2021.

Founded by Eamonn Sheridan, who has over forty years’ experience in all aspects of insurance and financial planning, Sheridan-Colohan was established in 1981. Today, Eamonn is supported by a dynamic management team formed of his daughter Georgina, Linus Devlin and Jackie McCabe.

From an office in the town of Wicklow near Dublin, Sheridan-Colohan provides a professional financial service. Products range from personal insurances for motor, household and travel through to commercial insurances for commercial property, motor fleet, and liability. Plus, life assurance, pensions, savings and investments. 

Importantly, the people behind those products consist of a highly qualified team of 15. They pride themselves on their professional and friendly service, and having built a reputation within the community as an honest and reliable company. This has resulted in a 6,000 loyal customer base, some of which have stayed with the company for around twenty years or more. Many firm relationships have also developed over time with peers across the industry. Some of whom are now part of PIB, which has helped to influence the next move for Sheridan-Colohan.

PIB plans for the Irish market

Looking ahead, there is no slowing down for PIB as its growth is set to continue into the Irish market, with seven acquisitions already completed. These include Campion Insurance, Creane & Creane, Oliver Murphy, Alan Tierney & Partners, Fingal Insurance, Sullivan Insurances and most recently Mike Murphy Insurance Brokers.

Together the businesses are becoming well established in leveraging the collective expertise between them, as well as the wider strength and scale of PIB Group for the benefit of their clients.
