Spotlight on… Claims pro Stella Taylor-Caddy on joining PIB and loving the outdoors

After 10 years at her previous company Stella Taylor-Caddy decided it was time to take the leap and join the PIB family as our new Claims QA Manager for the Specialty division. Stella shares her career journey so far, what attracted her to PIB and completing the National Three Peaks Challenge twice! Over to you Stella…

Tell us a bit about yourself…

I worked in private practice until moving into insurance 10 years ago when I moved from handling casualty claims to auditing them. Until moving to PIB, I worked for the same insurer for 10 years going from auditor to audit supervisor, underwriting and audit supervisor then audit and underwriting manager for the personal legal expenses team. 

What attracted you to PIB as a career destination? 

From the underwriting side I'd worked with a PIB colleague and found her to be friendly and professional. Several of my (now former) colleagues work with PIB and only had good things to say about the company. The variety of different insurances available through PIB made me think it would be an interesting place to work.

What does your new role entail, and who do you work with? 

I'm part of the Claims Operations team. I audit the claims files to analyse the claims process and help to identify and drive claims service improvements and consistency. 

And how is life so far at PIB? 

Everyone I've dealt with so far has been very welcoming and helpful which has helped me to feel like part of the team from day one.  

Tell us one interesting fact about yourself?

I used to play rugby union for Nottingham Ladies, though now I stick to watching not participating!  

Biggest achievement? 

Professionally - completing my ACII qualification in 2021 and achieving Chartered Insurer status. Personally - completing the National Three Peaks Challenge not once but twice (two consecutive years). 

What is your best piece of careers advice you’ve been given, or you would give? 

Take up all opportunities to learn and don't be afraid to ask questions. 

How do you relax outside of work? 

I live in the beautiful North Nottinghamshire countryside and love walking in the area. I love being outdoors - walking, paddle boarding, surfing, cycling, or digging in my garden.
