Spotlight on...Commercial Account Executive Scott Simpson and how he loves PIB’s focus on people

Scott Simpson joined the PIB Insurance Brokers Derby office to bring his skills and experience to his role as a Commercial Account Executive. We caught up with him to find out more about his career so far, what attracted him to PIB and why collaboration is important to him.

Tell us about yourself…

I have been involved with insurance from a young age with the enticement of a local 9-5 job paying good money and potential for a bonus, so I thought ‘why not?’. I started my career with Swinton and then held positions at several other firms before finally arriving here at PIB Derby. 

What do you do in your current role?

My main duties are to look after a book of existing commercial clients and service all their needs throughout the policy year as well as bring in new business, refer, cross sell and offer our Group services to all prospects and clients.

Best thing about being part of PIB?

The people and its focus on them, it’s refreshing to be part of a business that really does care about its people and values their opinion.

What does collaboration mean to you?

Understanding the different parts of the business and working closely with one another as a team.

Best careers advice you’ve been given or would give?

“If on a Sunday you already don’t want to turn into work, then don’t! There’s more to life than a job!”

How do you relax outside of work?

The gym, I love having an hour in the gym at least four or five times a week. It’s such a good stress relief and gets the positive chemicals flowing around the body. I am a dad of two children who are nine and seven and I also enjoy playing football.
